You’d get a warning that a predator was nearby, even when there was nothing to be found, and you couldn’t do anything to shake it. You could walk through walls - but only sometimes, because other times you’d just get stuck inside them. Enemies you had to kill in order for the storyline to advance simply vanished.

My biggest complaint about Journey to the Savage Planet on PS4 was that there were moments where it was fundamentally unplayable. It’s still got some flaws, but, all in all, I feel like the things that I disliked about the game are a lot less obvious now than they were earlier in the year.įor starters, it’s not broken anymore. It’s a good thing I decided to give the game another shot, because I like this version a lot more than I did when I played it on PS4. After all, I didn’t dislike the game, so much as I was disappointed that it wasn’t anywhere near as good as it could have been. Other than that, it’s an incredibly good low price for a Switch cartridge game.Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of Journey to the Savage Planet back when it first came out on PS4/Xbox One/PC, I was still curious to check the game out again now that it’s out on the Switch.

Maybe an update soon may help to resolve low frame rate issue (unless I have a bad cartridge). There was no initial Update for the game on first time run, probably because I purchased this game upon release. That said, I could just about live with the “first load” times, but the apparent often low frame rate is too much to swallow hence losing one star. This I would understand if it was loading the game from disk, but it’s a cartridge game and therefore is reading data from solid-state chip so should be quicker. Secondly, the initial loading-time of the game from first-boot is somewhat very lengthy. This is the biggest downside and often prevents me from wanting to frequently revisit the game. What I’m finding hard to get on with, is the apparent low frame rate which can make you feel a little nauseous. Initially can pick one of a number of strange human type characters or a dog which is thrown in if you prefer (which I picked).
